Catherine R. Watson, of Monroe Township, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 after a long illness. She was 77.
Born in New Brunswick, Catherine was the second child of John J. Reiser, Sr. and Catherine (Wiener) Reiser. She lived in East Brunswick and North Brunswick, before moving to Monroe Township in 2010.
A dedicated student with a lifelong love of learning, Catherine was a member of the New Brunswick High School Class of 1958. She later earned a full scholarship to Douglass College, where she majored in Mathematics and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. After College, Catherine worked at Bell Labs and later taught Math at Middlesex County College. She spent the last 15 years of her career as a programmer for AT&T, working on their billing systems. She retired in 1998.
Catherine enjoyed quilting and was also an avid traveler. She was a member of the Quilting Guild and the New Brunswick High School Class of 1958 Reunion Committee.
A firm believer that 'charity begins at home,' Catherine was devoted to her family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard T. Watson, Sr.; son, James Watson, and daughter-in-law, Andrea Watson, of North Brunswick; son Rick Watson and daughter-in-law, Maggie Watson, of Sudbury, MA; her brother John J. Reiser Jr. and his wife Sandra, of North Brunswick; and her brother, Dr. Peter M. Reiser and his wife, Anne, of Seaside Park; and her 3 granddaughters – Caroline, Sarah and Jillian.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018, 11:30 am, at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Rt. 130 North, North Brunswick. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in New Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main Street at Riva Avenue, Milltown.
