Carmen Anaya Acevedo, of East Brunswick, N.J. passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Alaris Health at Riverton in Rahway. She was 81.
Carmen was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1939 as the third child of Cristino Anaya and Aurelia Acevedo. She grew up and lived in Puerto Rico in 1994 when she came to New York and lived in Long Island and Queens before moving to East Brunswick.
She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Hall in East Brunswick.
Carmen retired from JC Penny in Queens. Prior to that she was an executive secretary for the Puerto Rico Telephone Company. She was also a graduate from the School of Interior Designs in San Juan, and a certified travel agent.
Carmen was very talented and enjoyed arts, crafts, painting, dancing and singing. She also loved meeting new people and chatting with everyone interested in friendly conversations. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Germany, Miami and Venezuela, and learning about the world, cultures and history.
Carmen is predeceased by her parents and her brothers Esteban Antonio Anaya and Dario Anaya.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Frances and Christian Pflaumer of East Brunswick; her sons Carlos T. Rivera Anaya of Orlando, Fla. and Efrain Rivera Anaya of San Juan, Puerto Rico; her beloved grandchildren Ian Pflaumer and Carlos, Hiether, Nicole and Alexander Rivera; as well as her great grandchildren Mahyla, Natalie and Braelyn Rafael.
Friends and relatives may call on Monday, October 19th, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St. (at Riva Avenue) in Milltown. A Christian talk will be given at 7:30 PM.
Burial will be on Tuesday, October 20th at 12:30PM at Elmwood Cemetery, 425 Georges Road, North Brunswick, NJ 08902. We will meet at Crabiel's from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and proceed to the cemetery from there.
