Carmela Mauro

July 7, 1927 — January 21, 2021

Carmela Mauro, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro. She was 93.

Born in Brooklyn, she lived there most of her life. She spent her winters in Fort Myers, Fl.

Carmela loved being with her family and cooking for them. She enjoyed sketching and painting. She was a member of St. Brendan's Rosarians in Brooklyn and the Elks Lodge Women's Auxiliary.

She is predeceased by her husband Frank Mauro (d. 2009), her parents Gennaro and Josephine (Arnone) Vitagliano, her brother Louis Vitagliano, her sister Christine Arena, and her son-in-law James Babcock (d. 1992).

Surviving are her daughters Linda Leanza or Morristown and Lucille Babcock of North Brunswick, six grandchildren Jeanne-Marie and her husband Michael Kosmin, Michael Babcock, Brian Leanza, Kristen Babcock, Matthew Leanza and Jamie Leanza, and four great grandchildren Michael, Charlotte, Dylan and Brody.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 25th, 11:00 am, at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Rt. 130 North, North Brunswick. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge.
