Bernadette Chehade

Bernadette Chehade, of Kendall Park, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 78 years old. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, she came to the United States in the 1980’s. She lived in New Brunswick most of her life before moving to Kendall Park 6 years ago.

Bernadette was a parishioner of St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Somerset. She was very spiritual and found great comfort in prayer. She loved singing and dancing and being with her family.

She is predeceased by her parents George and Anne (Chamoun) Shehade, her brothers David, Salim, Toni and Joseph; her sisters Angel Azar, Georgette Estaphan and Jeanette Shaheen; and her nieces Georgina Khoury and Jocline Ayoub.

Surviving are her brother Elie Shehade of Dayton; her sisters Juliette Ayoub of Kendall Park and Josephine Wainwright of Louisville KY; and her beloved nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass for the Resurrection will be held on Monday, August 10th, 11:00 am at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Somerset. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. A Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Sharbel on Monday, 9:30 am – 10:45 am, before the Mass. Arrangements are by The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown.
