Armand J. Stolte of Milltown passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017, surrounded by family, he was 88 years old. Born in South Amboy, Armand lived in Milltown for the last 50 years. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Strategic Air Command from 1948 to 1952, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Rutgers University. Armand was a Chemist with National Lead in South Amboy and Hightstown for 43 years, retiring in 1995, he was a member and Past President of the New York Society of Paint and Coatings Technology.
Armand served as Councilman in Milltown from 1972 thru 1974 and filled an unexpired term in 1987. He was a basketball referee, coach in the Milltown Little League for 12 years, a member and Past President of the Milltown Rangers. Armand was a proud New York Football Giants season ticketholder, a New York Yankees fan and an avid golfer. Devout in his Catholic faith, he was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, a lector for 49 years and a CCD teacher for 19 years. He also was a volunteer with the Interfaith Network of Care.
He is predeceased by his parents John and Florence Stolte and brothers Mickey, John and Vernon Stolte.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years Helen (Alexander) Aleksanis: his three sons and daughters-in-law –Vernon (Diane) of Geneva, IL, Arthur (Deborah) of Stevensville MI and Karl (Kate) of Barnegat NJ; his sisters June O'Leary and Florence (Flossie) McCarthy, both of South Amboy; and 7 grandchildren; Michael, John, Kidron, Sarah, Lizzie, Riley and Sean.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 17th, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call on Thursday November 16th, from 4:00 – 8:00pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St. at Riva Avenue, Milltown, NJ.
