Alfred C. Raspa, 88, of East Brunswick, NJ died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, "Fred" grew up in Highland Park before moving to East Brunswick in 1982.
A graduate of Highland Park High School, Fred played varsity Football and Baseball and was on the All County and All State Teams. He joined the US Army in 1946 serving in Japan in post WWII.
Fred was a Financial Officer for over 15 years, for Johnson & Johnson Credit Union, before retiring. Previously he had worked in the local Banking industry for 40 years. Fred enjoyed spending time with his extended family and was a loyal Rutgers football fan.
Fred was beloved and generous to his wife Charlotte and his family.
Son of the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Giunta) Raspa, he was also predeceased by his brother Anthony and his sister, Tina Chiovaro.
Survivng are his loving wife, Charlotte (Spreng) Raspa; his stepson, Kenneth E. Thomas of Berkeley Township; his grandchildren: Breanna & Bailey Thomas; sister-in-law Mary Raspa of Highland Park; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Patrick and Mary Jane Sommers of East Brunswick; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 9th beginning at 10:00 am from The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 No. Main Street – at Riva Avenue, Milltown followed by 11am Service at the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick, 225 Hale St., New Brunswick. Entombment will take place in the Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday ,October 8th from 3:00 - 7:00 pm.
