It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alan J. Bessinger, who departed this world on November 25, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on December 4, 1940, Alan dedicated his life to the field of construction, where he was known for his skillful operation of heavy machinery and his steadfast work ethic. Above all, Alan built a legacy far greater than any project—he built a family grounded in love, strength, and togetherness. His guidance, devotion, and steady presence shaped a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories. His family remains the most beautiful testament to the life he lived and the love he gave.
Alan held his family at the very center of his heart, finding his greatest joy in the time he spent with those he loved. He is survived by his loving wife Carmela Bessinger. His beloved daughters, Donna Brown and her husband, Bill; Doreen Heluk and her boyfriend, Dan; Dawn Campbell and her husband, Karl; and Debra Archer and her husband, Bill. His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, Anita Grillo; Denise Varrone and her husband, Pat; Brittney Heluk and her fiancée, Mike; Nick Andeer and his wife, Stephanie; Samantha Andeer; Billy
Archer and his wife, Madison; and Cassandra Archer. Alan was also a proud great-grandfather to Jeffrey, Dante, Donovan, and Ariella Varrone; Alexis Grillo; and Sofia and Max Andeer, each carrying a part of his spirit forward.
A man of simple pleasures, Alan found joy in his extensive train collection and treasured quiet evenings spent beside his wife, clicker in hand, as they relaxed together in front of the television. His personality shone brightly through his love for his family, revealing a heart as vast as the landscapes he admired through his train set.
Alan was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Myrtle and Halsey; his brother, Paul Bessinger; and a mother-in-law, Connie Damiano, who held a special place in his heart as though she was his own mother.
He is also survived by his sister, Judy Damiano and her husband, Frank, his brother, Lawrence Bessinger, and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
His life will be celebrated with a visitation at The Crabiel Home For Funerals in Milltown, New Jersey, on December 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Alan will be interred at Frost Woods Memorial Park in East Brunswick, New Jersey, where he will rest peacefully. As we gather to honor Alan J. Bessinger, we reflect on a life well-lived, marked by hard work, dedication to family, and a love that will resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will forever illuminate our paths, guiding us with the warmth of his spirit.
